Why Increasing Camera Distance Could Massively Improve POE2

The camera feels to zoomed in, which makes it hard to see what’s happening around my character and react properly.

There are already a lot of complaints about visual clarity, and I genuinely believe that a slightly more zoomed-out camera would solve a part of the problem. Being able to see more of the environment naturally improves awareness of enemies, projectiles, and ground effects.

The game even zooms out automatically in some situations and certain arenas so the tech is clearly there. Which makes me wonder: why not let players try a slightly more zoomed-out camera during regular gameplay and see how it feels? Even a small increase could improve clarity without breaking the game.

For context, I’m playing with a controller on a 65" TV from about 2.8 meters away, and I’ve also played a lot on a 42" TV from 1.4 meters. In both setups the same issue stands out: the camera is simply too tight, making visual information harder to read than it should be.

Here is two screenshots comparing the views from "Vally of Titans".

One showing the camera distance I prefer – much easier to anticipate threats and i feel this is the much better view in general.

One showing the current in-game camera – feels too close and restrictive.

I’m not asking for an extreme zoom-out, just a modest increase to support visual clarity and fair reaction time and I also think this will improve the gameplay in general a lot.

Curious if others feel the same way. Any official word on camera distance options or planned improvements?

Completely agree and if u play couch co op it's even worse especially in certain zones a 15% zoom out option would be so friggjn good
Personally I think the camera distance is fine. If anything I would want them to zoom in, so there is less stuff on the screen not more.

As far as visual clarity, for me the problems is overlapping effects. Spells, trees, effects etc that cover up ground effect or enemy tells. Zooming out wouldn't help with that. I feel I have plenty of time to see any projectile or long range attack. On the other-hand, I play on PS5 with a 65 inch TV. That might skew my perspective a bit.

That being said, a lot of this comes down to practice. I noticed that the more I play melee and the more I force myself to stay in melee range, the better I get at anticipating when a mob is going to attack.
