diablo 3 lead dev jay wilson said he had never played diablo 2 when he was given the job of lead dev on diablo 3, despite being a high level professional game developer who was working for blizzard. he was so far from giving a shit about arpgs that he didnt even try out one of his companies flagship franchises even out of simple professional curiosity.

proceeds to make D3, a disaster of a game.





diablo 4 lead dev joe shelly in interviews before release said he had about 50 hours experience playing 1 character in Diablo 3 and has never played any other arpg game, despite being a high level professional game developer who works for blizzard, the studio that essentially created the genre. aka is a guy who doesnt give a shit or know anything really about arpgs.

proceeds to make D4, a disaster of a game.







PoE lead devs chris wilson and the team he put together spent 1000s of hours playing diablo 2 at the deepest levels and were not given a job by their boss at activision, they decided themselves to create a spiritual successor to diablo 2 in chris wilsons garage out of genuine passion for their idea.

proceed to make the most successful long term arpg ever that is widely recognised as being the monolith that has defined the new era of arpgs.

...and then releases a patch that what? buffs loot drops a little bit but not by as much as the dopamine addicts want because the devs still want to hold to some shred of the less is more principals used in diablo 2 that they created this game in the image of and they honestly believe makes for a better long term game experience in their expert opinion as people who have spent 10,000s of hours playing arpgs and creating the most successful long term arpg in the history of computer games?

They are also absolutely in love with baalruns and meph runs, so the gutted every challenging content leaving only brain afk farm strats up ;)

dopamine like you can still get your fix i guess, just gota go fast, but no new strats, and halved the ones that existed so meh.

they desperately need another bex and need to stop promising things and instead play themselves and see the issues and listen to the community

this and kalandra have been my worst experiences so far
