Beast catch rate nerfed?

We get together with friends every season to go Beast hunting
but something feels off this time. The catch rate seems way lower after running a bunch of tests, we got around 10%,
where it used to be closer to 20%.

There’s nothing about it in the patch notes, so… did they secretly nerf it, or is this a bug?
And just to be clear, our sample size isn’t small
we’ve caught a lot of Beasts
