The 2016 2.2 Update Killed PoE1

I honestly think that 2016 was the turning point of Path of Exile's tragic decline in gameplay, immersion and atmosphere. Instead of adding more uniques to customize builds, they decided to lock all builds into ascendancies, destroying the classlessness that defined the game at that point.
Since old Path of Exile isn't returning anytime soon, what good alternatives are there? Diablo 2 feels too outdated in the current year but Grim Dawn with the Reign of Terror mod looks good. Last bumped on Nov 11, 2025, 2:02:38 PM

classic wow launched in 2019, so almost 15 years after the original release. Maybe u are lucky and they launch classic poe in 2028 ;) (i would totally play that for a month or so btw, haha)

There's always someone saying how everything or some particular thing was better a decade ago, but we all know the game needs these changes in order to "live".
You can play poe without ascendancies btw, if that's your thing. |
