What damage type on the hive waves?

The pulses after the actual fight, what damage type is it? How do I mitigate it? Can I avoid it? Block it? Is it SPELL ELE CHAOS what?

With max block I have never noticed the pulses while running out. If its supposed to do damage everytime the nova flies by then block works very well against it.
