Random item sound effects while in hideout.
|
Getting random sound effects in hideout. All sorts of ones, eg. jewelry sound, currency sound, bricked attributes sound, weapon swap sound. It is not constant, but seems to be sporadically happening.
I have been moving things around and interacting with things, but the expected sounds play when I do, then when I'm idol, or in-between actions, noises sometimes proc. I have hideout music playing, which is working normally. No one else is in the hideout, and these are all sounds that would not be heard from other players. This is the first time I have noticed it. Will see if it continues after logging (Still occurring). I noticed the merchant tab makes some noises when items are sold, I think based off the item type, so it may be related to this, but I don't think it accounts for the amount of sound effect I've encountered. I've only sold about 10 items, but have had over 100 sound effect noises played. So unless it plays a sound based on some other passive event, I think it may be getting played in error. Guess I'm not fully psycho, I've been getting the same problem. It seems to happen most often when I do ctrl+alt on Faustus, then put a few items on him. Then a bit after that I get a bunch of random sounds like you've mentioned. My friend apparently had the same thing last night when he was playing, but I didn't notice it until he mentioned it.

Just want to share that I am experiencing this as well. Specifically in hideout, specifically related to Faustus trade shop somehow.
Sound Channel count does not seem to impact this. I believe there is some weird Trade Shop bugged sound. Possibly a delayed effect, but I have experienced sound that was unrelated to faustus/inventory mgmt as well. So who knows. | |

So I have noticed some things that may be contributing to it.
One is, items make a sound when you add them to the window, but they also make a sound some time later, when they are locked in the window. I'm not sure why this is necessary to have audio of them locking, but it think it is occurring after the window is closed. I would suggest this is not needed, or at least should be able to have turned off. It almost sounds like an echo of all interactions made with the window, delay and played again while interacting with other things in the hideout. Also when someone is trading it makes a noise. This one is probably ok. I think there may be other sounds playing on top of this as sometimes I tabbed out for some minutes and hear sound effects, but also have no trades or anyone in the hideout if I tab back. So that may be a bug or further functions that I'm not aware of. There are also sometimes notifications coming from Kingsmarch completions, which has not be a problem previously, but is adding to all this noise buildup. I'm not sure if there is a bug or not, but it seems like there is feedback noise which is not useful and the design should be looked at if it is working correctly. Listed Merchant items will make a type-based noise not only when they become locked, but also when they later become unlocked. This can account for some of the longer-delayed noises.
I would agree that it got distracting in POE2, particularly when the sounds differ by item type. It was very confusing before realizing what it related to. The more items you list or change, the more noises you hear. It is a bit odd to hear this with the interface closed, though it is giving you information. Perhaps it might be an idea to consider having a cooldown on the item locking sounds or to use a single sound effect. edit for typo Last edited by Pehr#3739 on Nov 3, 2025, 3:01:07 AM

The problem still exists as of March 2026 and it's very disturbing when I'm in my hideout.

I think it turned out to be intended and all related to the way the asynchronous trade window works. I'm in SSF at the moment and never have this problem. It's largely to do with the eco delay when items lock in. I think the rest is probably to do with if other players are interacting with your trade window. It's not the best, probably should be optional to have the extra noise feedback.
