First herald died, I died, not able to progress

Re number: 738,571,000. Xbox series X POE2. Killed the first herald but died in his explosion. Restarted at waypoint, the herald tries to do his end piece, all sound no substance and then flies off without a bye or wave. Character is now stuck hanging around the entrance like Billy no mates, unable to progress. Quest is still open but map icon shows the herald as dead.
