Test of Mettle Insane Life Regen is Unfun no Skill Bad Design
| Cant kill the mob and it can't kill me. There is no mechanic to prevent it from gaining its buff, or stop it, or even powering through. I guess if you play HC for the first time and don't know in advance to get some anti regen, the game just ends. Give me a Jamanrah, Doryani, Viper, or any other challenging boss fight over this shitfest, at least I can get gud and learn their attack patterns and dodge them and kill them by a thousand cuts even with a trash build – but this binary shit design is just sad. The only other badly design boss fight I can think of like this is the Molten Gold one in Act 3, and only because it is essentially on a timer and you just lose by default if you can't kill it before the space runs out. These are just poorly designed GGG. I guess you made the boss braindead as a way of compensating, but it just makes it even more boring. Let me attack the Totem when the boss starts its pounding chest buff move to interrupt it, or something. Let player skill be the deciding factor. Last bumped on Oct 27, 2025, 6:48:59 PM | |
| Here's an idea: if the boss has cast the regen buff 30 times, he can't do it anymore. The player stayed alive in this farce of a fight for 20 minutes, everyone knows how sad and pathetic an affair it was and we can all move on. I just tried it 3 times in case mods make any difference. The 2nd go I nearly had it when my mana flsak ran out. Oh well. You know the Siren fight was kinda meh because of its long invulnerability phase where you just run in a cricle before you get to hit it again – interrupted by that singing phase where you run in a circle before you get to hit it again – but at least you can finish it after a longish, unenjoyful period. But this shit? Just sad. Why not just hotfix it to not have that stupid buff until you figure out a proper solution. I mean I know it's EA and I'm pissed, but I don't get this mad when an Abyss rare with sick modifiers one shots me. One is RNG and attacks that can be dodged, the other is binary stat-check crap design that should not have passed the concept phase. | |
