PLEASE Reconsider the One Portal Approach to PoE2

I am asking you to please reconsider the "reduced respawns per mod" approach to mapping in the endgame. I will never understand the philosophy of "if you want good loot, you have to add all these brutal modifiers to your map. Oh, and btw, when you do every mod you add will reduce your respawns." It is punishing, unfun, and anti-player. Especially with a game that already has xp loss on death. Add to this the fact that towers have been removed. In previous patches/leagues, I could choose to run ONE fully juiced map (tower), then the effects for my tablets would apply to every map in the radius. Then I could run 5 or less mods to at least give myself a chance or two at respawning when the inevitable random one-shot happens. Now? It's fully juiced and zero respawns, or nothing. Very annoying. I really do love 99% of the decisions you have made in developing this game, and I would still probably be grinding hard this late in the league. But when I die to some random crit, or poorly visible ground effect, or a boss slam/degen as the boss dies, and leave valuable items laying on the floor that I know I can never pick up... I immediately just lose all interest in playing. Not only might I just ragequit in the moment, but it actively discourages me from firing it up again later. I am 100% certain I am not alone in this. This is a universally hated mechanic, and needs to go in the next patch. You get 6 portals in PoE. This needs to be consistent between games. You know people have said that this decision was due to some inspiration from souls-like games. Well, if true, you've missed something pretty critical that exists in EVERY Dark Souls game. You ALWAYS got one respawn attempt to go back and recover what you'd lost. Always. If you died again on the way back to your corpse, then yes, you'd lose the souls you left on the floor. But you always get a 2nd chance, and that's one of the many reasons why the punishing difficulty of Dark Souls was never a turn off. Because, was it difficult? Yes. Brutally, at times. But it always felt FAIR. Again, the one portal system is not fun, and actively discourages players. Time to let it go. Last bumped on Oct 27, 2025, 11:16:46 PM

100% Correct.
I juice and die the map is a waste. So is all the work and effort to get to that point. Once I die and waste all that time and effort I ask myself, what was the point? I then log off and don't log on for a day or week depending on how much time I just wasted. Eventually they will figure out this is not fun and players don't like it. Also, no point to play with friends. They die once (duo/trio) and I may have run the map solo. No point in playing with friends, might as well play SSF. |
