Consecrated Ground Conversion Priority Question
|
After seeing the new bloodline ascendancies, I got thinking. How does the Bittery Heresy node from the Lycia Ascendancy interact with the Worship the Blightheart Anoint? Does one get priority over the other? Do you get a combination of Fungal Ground and Profane Ground? The only way I can think of to test this is with the Broken Faith shield, but that’s from a shield and not an Ascendancy point.
Does anyone know how ground effect priorities or priorities work in general? ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Eice6#1855 on Oct 26, 2025, 9:52:34 PM Last bumped on Oct 28, 2025, 10:07:23 AM

So I tested it with the Broken Faith Shield and Anointed Worship the Blightheart using purifying flame. When I had the shield equipped it only created profane ground. When I unequipped the shield, I only created fungal ground. I wonder if items have priorities over anoints or the passive tree, or if profane ground just has priority over fungal ground.

Might be the case that debuffs have priority here. Fungal Ground provides a buff and a debuff, while Profane Ground only adds a debuff. I think the intent here is that you are trading a positive effect that affects you for a negative effect that affects enemies. Since you can't be affected by either or if the primary variable is missing, as in the wording here is instead and not is or converted to X Ground. That's why it should be impossible to have both Fungal Ground and Profane Ground active via the same interaction. Maybe there's just a priority list and Profane Ground has higher priority.
I couldn't find a clarification on this, so it's mostly speculation. A theory derived from how coding works, where a negative always takes priority over positive, to avoid infinite loops. Same reason why Cannot will overwrite Always, as in Cannot deal Critical Strikes will take priority over Your Hits are always Critical Strikes. Also why conversion is a one-way street. Interesting. I did not know that negative takes priority over positive. I find it hard to believe that I am the first person to question how this interaction works.
Even when the league starts I don’t know if using Bitter Heresy will answer the question, there are too many variables and not enough controls to determine how the code prioritizes this interaction. Do the devs ever make comments on how priority/the code works directly? Last edited by Eice6#1855 on Oct 27, 2025, 3:41:09 PM

" There's usually an FAQ thread on reddit, but I don't know whether that is what they use for their own FAQ thread later. [3.26] Poor Man's Ward Loop: https://youtu.be/9zC-Q6a_MwY
