Gemstudded description clarification about active weapon set

For the new gemstudded notable on the Gemling Legionnaire, it would be nice if the description was clarified that the socketed support gems need to be the active weapon set. Having the right number of gems but having some a second unused weapon set does not give the benefits.

I also could totally be misremembering but I think this used to not be the case in 0.3.1 and before (I slotted extra weapons just to get easy slots to equalize the number of my supports) but not seeing anything about that in the patch notes and it doesn't work in 0.3.1b/c.
