The multiplayer experience at end game is the worst in the genre
|
Mainly due to performance issues and netcode. But some other problems as well..
1. Latency beased netcode. There has to be some way to hide the latency for the game to be playable in multiplayer. But there seems to be none. 2. latency based netcode combined with not being able to see the ping and latency of the multiplayer game you're joining. If the host doesn't put the region they're in on the party title you don't know wich reguion you're going to. You could be in europe and joining a game in China for all you know. 3. Performance. Even in single player the game can grind to sub 30 FPS easily on end game maps with enough enimies on the screen. But you combine this with 3 or more players in multiplayer. Then you include the latency.. forget it. 4. Eng game mechanics further infusing the issues. Deliruim on maps which seems to be a requirement in this game. Looks like shit.. I get that it's supposed to increase the difficulty of the map for increased drop rate. But it actually sucks the enjoyment out of the game. And when 90% of the time you're running end game maps with deliruim. Then 90% of the time the end game looks worse than it should. Find a better alternative instead of that grey filter. -map suffix and prefixes. Increased density etc. Combiend with everything listed above (netcode/deliruim/perfomance) everything is multiplying on each other to create a very bad recipe. 5. Maps cluttered with random stuff everywhere. They really should be cleaned up. Again combined with everything else.. To be fair the campaign is somewhat passable as a co-op experience. As some of the things listed above are not present. But I wouldn't actually call it a "good" co-op expreince at any point.. just passable. End game maps in co-op though.. definitely a much worse experience. Zero enjoyment outside of hosting the map. I guess if the intention is just to make a single player game with trading then ignore. But the game would be better if they fixed the co-op. Last edited by Icesinnox#6517 on Oct 24, 2025, 10:58:08 PM Last bumped on Feb 6, 2026, 1:33:36 PM

" 1/2: yes latency is an issue especially when it also has network spikes. It doesnt help that GGG isnt good with QOL and UI elements. 3: Performance is a huge issue. With 0.4 they improved it, but at the same ime introduced bugs to the game because of their improvements. For example i could downgrade my GPU drivers to use Vulkan, but POE2 isnt the only game i play so i cant do that. That forces me to use directx12, but dx12 causes my Drivers to constantly crash. Thats a known issue. Now why did GGG not test this? Or at least fix it. Instead they told us to just downgrade GPU drivers. Thats not acceptable tbh Now im using Linux which runs totally fine. How does the game run better on Linux than on windows when it was mainly made for windows. That is wild. 4. Delirium got way better wiht 0.4, but it still look bad. Its acceptable for me tho 5. The clutter makes the game look better. But the issue is, many people dont care how elaborate and refined an area looks. Games dont need to be gorgeous to be good. To much can even be a problem. For example if i play a shooter, then i wanna focus on the enemy and not be distracted by clutter on the map. I choose to play more simple shooter. More arcade shooter than games like Squad or newer Battlefields. The faster you play a game the less clutter you want. Then we have the issue with skills. Skills can be so overbearing that you cant even see any enemies and their attacks. Its to much clutter from skills very often. Campaign: Campaign is good thewre clutter isnt that much of an issue. Youre moving way slower, and can appreciate how good maps look. My only issue with the campaign is the length. Its simply to long to paly through it every single league. “The bird of Hermes is my name, eating my wings to make me tame.”
