[Suggestion] Dynamic Weather for Town Environments
|
The integration of dynamic weather for town environments would significantly enhance the atmosphere and immersion, making these hubs feel like living, changing parts of the world. Below is a conceptual framework for different weather states for towns:
Weather States * Sunny: The default pleasant state. Sunlight casts sharp shadows. * Overcast: A subtle change, dim colors with softer shadows. * Light Rain: Drizzle dampens the ground, creating reflections. * Heavy Rain: Intense downpour with thunder and lightning (like first zone Riverbank). Visual & Soundscape * NPC Dialogue: Add subtle, ambient lines to NPCs that reference the weather states. * Torches and Fires: Fires, torches, and other light sources could flicker in heavy rain. * Ambient Audio: The sound should dynamically adjust with the various weather states above. Faint drizzle transitioning to the roar of heavy rain. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Oct 24, 2025, 8:38:59 AM Last bumped on Oct 28, 2025, 3:36:19 PM

Heck, Diablo 2 has dynamic weather and day/night cycles. I think this would be a great feature for PoE2.

This game has enough performance issues and you are proposing on adding more things to make that worse. |

" Give me a break, the first zone in the game Riverbank has heavy rain. There should be no performance issues in town. Last edited by CharlesJT#7681 on Oct 24, 2025, 11:59:54 AM

Surprised not many people would want dynamic weather in town?

You must be really hyped for this suggestion to keep self-bumping so much.
I personally don't care. I don't think it is needed as Sunny would never match the first town's vibe. If they add this on in 0.9 I wouldn't care. Just fix performance stuff long before this. |
