Hope next content updates focus on melee content
| At the moment PoE 2 has some fun variety in ranged combat, but the melee combat is severely lacking. Might be that I'm just currently playing a lot of Monster Hunter and Darktide to fill in an itch, but with the graphical improvements to Path of Exile I'm seeing a great potential for some cool melee gameplay. Probably need to download PoE1 just to mess with Sand Stance Lacerate or a Cleave + Sweep build in the meantime. One trick Champion, borked builds and a general meme. | Same, i can see in my minds eye what POE2 can become in terms of action game. Imagine being able to animation cancel skills into other skills, such as cancelling disengage into spear projectile skills midair. Having attack skills that double as parries and anti slam defences during certain frames to compliment or compensate for raise shield, this would basically solve fixed speed attack skills as you want your defence frames to be as stable as possible and open the door for interesting RPS encounters and bosses. The game should play faster and more fluidly for melee, even for mace. We already got dodge roll cancelling, which must mean animation canceling is part of the code. We already got skills decoupled from gear and a better treatment of weapon sets. These are things that POE1 can not do. If we could chain attacks to attack more within a single second, following certain rules, melee would have a strength that ranged doesn't and this would stop melee from just being "worse ranged". |   | 
| " Dodge roll cancelling does not mean animation cancelling though. It is simply dodge roll has a higher priority than skills to execute. While I understand the point you are referencing, I do not think PoE2 supports animation cancelling. Example you cannot overcome GCDs. If anyone else can explain this better, or correct me, I would appreciate it. Also animation cancelling should not be allowed in PoE2, which would break ranged classes as now we already have swap weapons being instant. |   |
