Locked resolution during act 4 race

Like many people i'm playing on an ultra wide screen. When i joined the race today for fun i got locked onto some 16:9 downscaled resolution and it just didn't work at all on my screen.
My cursor constantly glitches out and sends my character and skills to the wrong direction besides it being shitty to play anyways if you are used to the ultra wide resolution for years.
Is this intended and will it stay like that in future races? Because it just made it kinda unplayable for me.
As far as feedback goes. Please let me play on my usual resolution. If you are set on doing this locked resolution for spectating or whatever purposes at least give some clear hint when you register for the race or make the player more aware of this in some way.
And if possible make the mouse position register properly if you actually get downscaled on an ultra wide screen.

Edit: I found the official thread for the races afterward and searching for a bit https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3861405 . There the resolution lock is mentioned with the reasoning of an even playing field. Fair enough even tho i don't really understand the difference between these short races and a normal ladder during a league.
The point about the scaling bugging out my mouse on wide screen still stands.
