Crux of Nothingness boss trapped

After getting to the maze phase and running around like an idiot I found the exit. The boss did not transfer and just stood there taunting me that it was over. I killed him next to one of his three Ritual things around the edge. Pic of him just standing there laughing at me as I have to die to get out of the area.
