Iron citadel boss, frozen then one shot

Is this intended? I am running nascent hope freeze charm, was full 1600 HP 2400 ES, the boss froze me and then 1 shot me, where is the interaction/challange? Kind of annoying death, I'm just going to get carried on my next citadel boss

GGG's design philosophy is bosses can oneshot you no matter how much you invest in defense. This apparently stops the game from becoming boring, to always have that sense of risk.

This means bosses can oneshot tanky builds who have 15-20k ES, so if you have less than 10k effective HP you can expect endgame bosses to oneshot you on a regular basis if they hit.
map bosses, and citadels you cannot get hit more than twice. I have a sorc with 13k es all res capped and a uber dps monk with 1.9k es 40% deflection, 77% evasion and 2k hp, they both cannot survive more than 2 hits.

The only answer to kill them consistently is if you understand their mechanics really well and don't lag.

OR

You 1 shot them before even they do 1 mechanic.
