What's the ceiling target for bosses?

I am pretty geared, like 2 mirrors worth of stuff on me atm.
I am running over all T3 Pinnacles and Uber Arbiter, no probles whatsoever with these. But when I am against a map boss with Azmerian Spirit and +2mods or +1mod+Soul_link (delirious of course), It is a freaking fight of the evening boxing matchup lasting good 5minutes and more. I am genuinely sweating during these and I do get beaten like 20% of the time. My build is pretty tanky -> 7k life + 61% damage mitigation from Undying Hate Amanamu and damage taken on mana. I dont get one-shot, so I have no problem with bosses damage, as I can dodge my way out in most slippery cases. Problem is Boss durability tbh. If I am fighting such boss for few minutes with my 1M dps Reap in the tooltip (hideout, unbuffed), I cannot imagine how long would that fight be as a casual. So my question is - what is the target ceiling for map bosses? Is it supposed to be extremely not accessible for most players? Shouldn't it be the Pinnacle bosses that are the hardest ones? Also I am pretty sure the biggest issue for me in these encounters is the visibility. Deli fog + Azmerian bullshit animations + my own stuff and I am just gonna walk into something sooner or later. God forbid to play in a party, you won't see shit. I am not malding in here, I am being genuinely curious about how hard the ceiling is planned to be, as I intend to play at such level, in a party possibly. So in POE 1, this happens all the time -- but with rare mobs vs bosses. There's ways for rare mobs to spawn with like 15 modifiers.

This is very simple, so much so, it'll sound silly.. Boss encounters are designed to be beatable -- rare monsters are not. What the hell does that mean? Well in POE 1 even the Uber Uber bosses are meant to be killable. There is a way, design, strategy, and execution. For rares, they just get a shotgun blast of modifiers and you get what you get, RNG style. In POE 1 a rare mob can have i'll pretend 4-7 mods natively depending on atlass tree, THen they can be god touched adding more mods, then they can be essence touched, then they can have map modifiers, then they can be affected by OTHER monsters that have auras. In ARPG's, the unkillable gods are ALWAYS random rares. Not bosses. This goes back to Diablo 2. IT's a straight RNG pinata and i'm pretty sure just SEEING mobs this uncommon that wreck players makes GGG happy. |

pinnacles ect need more than 3 tiers.
lets make up a number and say they should have 5. t4 and t5 should be way harder and way more rewarding. what you have described here does make sense though. loot wise, pinnacles seem less rewarding than map bosses/rares. especially when you consider cost of entry ect. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i hope the 0.4 endgame changes are MASSIVE and systemic. " i dont think casuals are intended to reach that level, to be honest. it seems reasonable to me that things could get "harder" in ways that track player power indefinitely. i imagine having 2 mirrors worth of gear and completely stomping everything gets a little old eventually. |

" That's how I like my ARPGs, occasionnal rare mob that take all your flask and forces you to go to town to refill, minus the shotgun effect, that one is stupid and glad it's not in PoE2. Super boss are good too but too predictable, rare mobs can be exciting. Tech guy Last edited by Warrax#2850 on Oct 12, 2025, 2:07:42 AM

Sounds like you've had fun, no?

Fully juiced bosses should be testing our limits, it's not mandatory to do it that way, and I strongly believe that it is fun thing to aspire to be able to beat those. |

You got a soul linked waystone, either rush to the boss or do it for fun. I run soul linked because I find it fun, there's no need to have a deeper reason
I do hope they don't lower the ceiling though. We should have pinnacle bosses as strong as those soul linked bosses, maybe 0.4 will bring it Last edited by iHiems#0168 on Oct 12, 2025, 7:32:20 AM
