What information/explanations do you want to see added to the game?
| I am going to start with my experience with Viridian Wildwood: I think GGG needs to give players information on what each Unique Map is about, more than just a line that says something like "contains Omen Altars". There was no tooltip that I could of clicked on, and I think there needs to be for each Unique Map. Going in to this map blind (double entendre), I didn't know anything about a time limit or stepping into the black area teleports you to a root cellar and you are not unable to go back to the rest of the map. I had someone message me for a trade, so I left the map to go make the trade, and when I came back into the map, there were enemies in a black area that I tried to go fight, only to end up being teleported into a root cellar with no way back... There were 0 instructions for what I was supposed to be doing, or not doing. While I love discovering new things in the game, it feels terrible when those discoveries are not only confusing, but also come at a loss. I didn't finish picking up all my items on the ground and I ended up wasting my waystone on a map that only lasted a couple minutes. If I knew more about the map, I would not of used my better waystone + tablets, and I would not of left to do the trade. Just before I did this map, I did a map that said it contained a Merchant. So, I thought it was going to be like the other areas in the campaign that had merchants in them: a large area full of monsters to kill, and somewhere in there is a merchant that can be traded with. It wasn't. It was a dock that had a merchant that gave me a free unique item. Cool that it was giving me a unique item, but I ended up spending a waystone on it that I could of made better use of in a map that actually had monsters in it... The lack of explanations combined with the loss of resources feels too punishing for new players. Quite often it feels like I am spending more time reading about how things work on websites/reddit/forums than I do engaging with the actual game. I was really hoping that POE 2 was going to contain more information INSIDE the actual game, and while it does contain some, I am still having to use externals resources nearly as much as I did for POE 1 (especially when it comes to crafting). And I am someone who enjoys the discovery period and not following build guides, etc. When it comes to crafting, I find it confusing. I love that Tier 1 modifiers are the best and think that was a great change. But GGG did not change "Item Tier" to go in the same direction, which is confusing. Personally, I think it should be called something else, as it is confusing calling both "Tier" but having them go in opposite directions. There is no explanation about it in game either, which makes it more confusing. Modifier tags are then in the mix as well, which makes crafting even more confusing, and requires more external research. Not to mention all the new Abyss modifiers + grouping (Ulaman, Amanamu, Kurgal, etc). I love all the details and how in-depth the games go, but without better use of internal explanations, barriers are added to the game which at times feels really punishing. I know there needs to be more explanations and warnings added to the game and that the game isn't finished yet, but I was wondering, what other explanations do people want to see added to the game? Let's work together to make this world a better place :) Last edited by LostSoulz289#8506 on Oct 10, 2025, 1:20:18 PM Last bumped on Oct 11, 2025, 9:21:07 PM | |
| I'm not sure I mind the Wildwood or the Merchant because it's a lesson you only have to learn once kinda thing and I try not to take myself too seriously.
                Spoiler

(That one ship in Act IV/Plunderer's Point anyone?) I like the mystery. I like figuring things out on my own. Provided, the system is designed in an intuitive enough way to figure out. Because THAT is good game design, letting you discover it for yourself instead of hand-holding every step. It shouldn't be too punishing to fail the first time. But, in your examples, I don't feel like WHATEVER entry you pay should be considered to be any form of severe punishment/loss because ONE MAP should never be what breaks your bank. But I might be a Minority about to get ICE'd out here. I think all I really want is more in-depth character sheets. I want to see (if i toggle in-depth/advanced details on or something from the Options menu, for example) everything going on w/ my character's stats. I want to see everything going on w/ my Skills stats. If there's a conditional (like more crit chance% against blind enemies), I want to be able to see how that calculates if the conditions were met. And I don't want to use POB. I want to play POE2, not POB. Edit: I also, this kind of work is tedious and time consuming so I'd rather they not spend too many resources explaining everything when it should be fine so long as its intuitive/forgiving enough. The internet is a great resource for people who want/need everything explained in fine details. I also don't understand what brand of Catnip GGG's team were on with Item Tiering. I hope they bring unidentified tiered items in line w/ item mod tiers. If not in a hotfix, then at least by 0.4.0 -_- Don't get lost by being so focused on the target that you forget to enjoy your surroundings.
