Armour Break interaction with Sunder and High Velocity Rounds
|
I've been brewing a way to use two weapon types in a build, hoping to make use of Witch Hunter's extra set points and landed on using crossbow and Mace. After a while I scrapped that and thought Tactician would be better with the ascendancy node Right Where We Want Them. Using that node, the tree node Eroding Chains, and some increased broken armour, I would be able to fully break armour even on bosses with one pin.
Then, going along with that, I was testing out Sunder and High Velocity Rounds. Now that they have been changed to not consume Fully Armour Broken in 0.3.0 I thought you could use them together. But it does seem that they still effectively consume it by converting the debuff to their respective "buffed" debuff versions, which I think is just only correct in that the effect of fully broken armour is not removed. I would consider this a bug, but at the very least needs clarification on the skills that it does remove Fully Armour Broken themselves if this is intended. On top of that, HVR does not armour break on procing Eroding Chains, which I guess makes sense from the perspective of keeping a more simple damage calculation. Since the hit comes from HVR which is a Payoff skill any hit that causes breaking armour from it just wouldn't apply it (even though you can still equip the Armour Break III support to it for some reason). However this makes absolutely no sense from a perspective of a player looking for niche interactions, as it reads like the armour break is from the act of pinning not from the damage of the shot that inflicted the pin buildup. Which is just disappointing cause it feels like HVR one of the best skills for building up the pin on bosses. I feel like this interaction should work, and there should definitely be a fix to disable equipping Armour Break III and other related supports to HVR. TLDR: Sunder and HVR should state that they do remove Fully Broken Armor (not consume), to clarify that they do not stack, or changed in a way so that they do. Also, Eroding Chains should be applied from the application of the pin and not from the hit that caused the pin, IMO. Last bumped on Oct 10, 2025, 4:20:20 AM
