Low life helmet swap often doesnt work

I swap helmets to go low life after I die for example (and am back at full life). I use Visage of Ayah until I'm low life, and swap back to normal helmet.

However very often when I switch back to my normal rare ES helmet, life keeps draining as ES doesnt return at all. I then have to refill at the well and perform the process again.

Are you using or experiencing a damage over time effect to lower your life while disabling your energy shield with the Visage of Ayah, or do you have any effects that defer some of your damage taken to instead be taken over time?

Energy shield will normally not start to recharge until a few seconds after you have stopped taking damage. If you are continuing to take damage or otherwise lose life at the point you swap helmets, you would not start to recharge energy shield unless something else allowed you to do so. Upon swapping back to your regular helmet, your ES would reset to 0 until it recharges.

If you happen to be a Lich using Eternal Life, you would initially have no ES upon the swap and continue to take any ongoing damage to life before it could recharge.


You could probably use the Convalescence buff (spirit reservation) skill to force your ES to recharge immediately.
