I LOVE this game, but this one thing makes me HATE it...

I've spent thousands of hours playing POE1/2 on both PC and PS5 Pro. I prefer the latter now. Aside from long load times and level transition hangs/crashes, the game is amazing, even in beta. Despite all this time, I'm still learning about the game. I'm far from an expert, and that's what keeps me hooked. The complexity, challenge, and experience.

Now I refuse to play in Standard. I love hard core for the challenge. It provides that anxiety and edge to pay attention to everything and to learn from mistakes.

And that's the problem.

The game doesn't tell me how to get better when some random nonsense kills me without any understanding of what killed me, and how.("Nonsense" is pure emotion speaking, knowing there are legit mechanics in play.)

Example: I opened a breach today on a level five map with my level 75 ES-based Stormweaver character. I had a 1k health pool and 5k+ ES. Not substantial, but decent. Within one (two?) second(s), some purple beam streamed from some random mob and essentially insta-killed me -- without any reason why. For my charms, I had anti-stun, freeze, and bleed.

Perhaps it was chaos damage, but was it? I think I was trying to roll, but was I stunned? Was it increased critical damage on the map that the beam was able to leverage and do multiplicative damage where only more health would have helped until a roll completed?

In the end, I see some mob wandering around over my corpse, ostensibly laughing at me, and I can't even tell its modifiers to understand what happened.

I feel like this is a real problem for both Standard and hard core, but with HC having far dire consequences when I lose a character.

Is there a tool tip or something else I'm missing that others know about where it could change my gaming experience where the game tells me what happened?

If not, please, GGG, add some kind of "reason" on why a character dies other than "You died." I wouldn't mind logging in to this website as well to see a RIP list of characters and reasons if that could be made available if implementing in game is too technically challenging.

Thank you for your consideration, and keep up the great work. I will be playing for many years to come.
