Can someone help me survive with block?

Warbringer shield wall i have 3k4 hp and 54% block chance with good damage.However, i always getting one shot by boss, especially gernor (wolf boss). my item is almost max. i think i can only scale up maximum 4k. Now i cannot farm citadel. i just switch to 8k energy shield build soccerer to survive the boss. i have tank it, the shot deals about 6k dame. This build cannot hit and run so it is so hard for me to evade the hit. I tried to chose the 75% block chance ascendancy but still die. So the question is how i survive with the boss? can anyone help me? should i switch from pure armour to energy-armour? Last bumped on Oct 9, 2025, 10:14:16 AM

A couple of things, forgive me if these feel like silly questions. You do know that block chance does not mitigate anything, but provides a chance to avoid damage, right? Additionally, certain boss attacks are unblockable by design, telegraphed in red?
One of the many characters I'm playing this league is warrior and while armour still needs substantial work (mostly it simply needs to be factored into mitigation calculations AFTER resistance, which would solve most of the issues with it in one adjustment), but I currently have my armour mitigating well over 100% of elemental damage. This sounds good on paper, but armour does not work like resistance, which mitigates exactly the percentage advertised, rather it is more effective against smaller hits than larger. Armour is much more effective in POE 1 precisely because in that game resistance is factored in first, then armour. With the new mechanics allowing you to devote some of your passive tree to tanking elemental damage through armour (and ascendancy choices, if you are a Smith of Kitava), it has certainly grown much more viable, but is still prone to being overwhelmed if the damage is high enough. Movement speed / slow prevention / using leap slam tactically to avoid certain attacks, dodging ... all these remain necessary, no matter how much armour you stack and will likely remain so. For me, any warrior build must offer one thing apart from tankiness: the ability to continue to do damage from range. If you expect to be able to stand toe to toe with a boss and just shrug off their best, no mitigation type in the game will let you do that with impunity, and that by design. Back to the range option, my primary clear is Leap Slam + Boneshatter, but Earthshatter + Seismic cry / Infernal Cry is effective if what the boss is doing makes standing beside it problematic, as is HotGs. Consider incorporating skills which allow you to boss more effectively as well. Most builds incorporate skills, even weapon sets, which allow the char to switch it up between pack clear and single target. Anyhow, good luck. Last edited by inethil#2258 on Oct 8, 2025, 8:14:57 PM

Use Marohi Erqi for single target to insta stan the boss and then one shot it. That is it. Maybe with Hammer of the gods + bleed.
Wind dancer is instant so you can enable it only on 2 weapon set and just take 1 hit. Also converting phys to any element can help you survive longer. Body armors can use essence mod that convert phys to chaos damage.
