my conclusion about 0.3 and the game in general
Damage numbers for caster mobs are at the same level at 0.1 on runic mobs that 1-shot you every time.
Burning ground effects are overtuned like about 3x what they should be. All the abyssal rare mob effects are overtuned about 3x what they should be. The number of one-shots i have gotten from mobs and the new boss casual swing move are all terrible and totally overtuned. So you added a bunch of defensive options to improve defense, and then you compensated by overtuning all mob damage to compensate but you got the values wrong and currently this has been by far the most enraging patch simply because its a step backwards in balance. 75 resists plus 60% armor applying to elemental hits should mean you never get one-shot by anything elemental. Overall there are far too many instant fail mechanics in this game. Like most others, i loathe the concept of limited respawns in a map. I am sure that anyone with a sense of perfectionism hates seeing a red dot on the map, meaning "permanently failed". This sort of game with a massive time investment requirement has always been very rewarding in that as long as you persist against a difficult encounter, you could always win in the end by learning from repeated failure and persistingn. I have always felt that introducing rogue-like elements in the late game felt like an ambush of genera-switching. All the time invested before that feels like a waste when you encounter a boss that you havn't learned well enough and then you are deprived of trying again. The persistence and time investment is thrown away and it generally feels like a slap in the face for all the love i have for the game. If I could make only one change to the entire game it would simply be to remove limited tries from all difficulty levels. Limited tries on an unlimited game is like limiting fun. The concept of permanent failure should not even exist in this game. Please keep hardcore rogue-like elements in a seperate league if you insist on keeping them. There are far too many "punishment" mechanics. And in general none of these are fun. I would rate this game 10/10 if it removed all rogue-like elements of permanent failure. As it is, its like a giant flaw in what I otherwise consider a masterpiece. And I rate this game 6/10 because of that. Last bumped on Oct 8, 2025, 10:22:56 AM
