Lythara - Crazed Azmeri Boss
Lythara has so many AOE tornados and 1-hit-kill spear throws that I am absolutely unable to defeat her. I backtracked to farm gold to afford to redo all my passives just for her, and still, I'm unable to progress. And now I have no gold to redo my passives again, and my build is much worse for crowd control after having specifically built for defense. It's a really boring grind to just redo my passives to attempt this boss again. The other bosses until this point have been pretty well balanced, but the absurdity of this fight has made me take a break from the game until it's addressed.

I JUST beat this boss a few hours ago. After something like a dozen or so completely unfair deaths. The arena is too small, her piercing attacks have little to no telegraph, and RIP minion builds. Yet again, another design choice made by a Mercenary.
I'll give you a general tip and a minion specific tip. General tip is to keep your back to the exit and the 'walls' of the arena in between vortex spears. This will give you more time and more room to maneuver; fighting in the center of the 'figure 8' of the arena is self-sabotage. Done properly, you should have three spear vortexes to get her to half, then another three once she starts her spirit animal phase. As far as those, you're at the sheer mercy of RNGsus that you get a good one like Owl or bear, and not a one-shot like serpent/bull. You're still going to be relying on her having a good rotation and not spamming vortexes every 10%, but it's still winnable. Here's the minion-specific build I won with. Her pathing is currently bugged. If you go up to the top half of the '8' with your minions distracting her, hook to the right as close to the far-right edge near the lip of the center and just launch AOE's or resummon your minions if possible. She'll actually get stuck on the opposite side of the lip. Unless your minion contingent is blown out in a single strike, they'll be able to pin her pathfinding there until she drops dead from minion chip damage. Use the initial tip I gave you about forcing her to launch her darts, but BE WARNED. The vortex will appear on the first thing her spear hits. That includes minions. If you can get her to about half health, you can hook her into that pathing bug. If you get lucky like I did, she won't even get a totem animal booster because she won't be parkouring around into it. The only thing you have to be careful is the poison viper beam. While it is telegraphed correctly unlike the spear, it DOES pierce walls and only appears as a green smudge on the floor for a while. If you can tank the poison? Sweet. Otherwise, just move back so she's still stuck to the side, and pray your reviving minions aren't too late. Look at it this way: if GGG aren't going to respect our time by making a hard but mechanically feasible miniboss, then I feel zero qualms about cheesing the game so hard that the NPC's start speaking French. |
