Nearly a full year into POE2 and we are still freezing/crashing
GGG…please shed some light on the game’s known performance issues, and your progress/work being done to make the game stable. When the game launched, I was on the most current Nvidia driver. This, as many of you know, caused an extremely unstable gaming experience. The game would crash every 30-50 minutes like clockwork. I was able to find an Nvidia driver (536.66) that allowed me to play without any crashes. After the 3.0 update, I’m right back to the exact same type of application crash. Sure, you have added a “hot patch” that pauses the game for 30 seconds and resumes, but all map progresses I reset. I believe I speak for many customers when I simply ask for an acknowledgment of the ongoing issue. Nearly a year…and no fix in sight. If you are fortunate enough to have the lucky combination of hardware/software that isn’t experiencing this issue, do not leave a comment. If your game isn’t crashing, you got lucky. Thanks for anyone with any insightful information. It’s much appreciated!
For context, my cpu is a ryzen 9 9950x3d, gpu: water cooled strix 4090 OC, etc…all top of the line hardware, just to remove that as a potential issue. Last bumped on Oct 7, 2025, 4:00:37 PM

Agree this needs to be fixed asap. Game was never stable for me, but this league it's terrible. I freeze for ~30 seconds in probably 4/5 maps I run. If I'm with friends, at least one of us is sure to die.
I notice a lot of network lag, but I've completely trashed the graphics quality just in case it helps (it hasn't -- in fact I will now freeze sometimes while in a shop window). Like you, my hardware really should not pose any issues. I actually ragequit the game for the first time last night. Just died 3 times in a row bc of lag. | |
Re: NVIDIA:
Make sure it isn't running the PoE1 profile. If you play both games, you have to force a change with the NVIDIA Profile tool. Ensure shader cache is set to 100GB or to Unlimited. SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.
