Random person asks if I have race rewards to sell. Is this a new RMT thing?

So I'm taking a new HC SSF character through the campaign (yes, I die, I suck), and someone I've never heard of whispers me:

"
@From <A**Y> D*****a: Hey! You around?
@To D*****a: Yes, what's up?
@From <A**Y> D*****a: Sorry to bother you haha
@From <A**Y> D*****a: I've been playing PoE2 so I havent been online in PoE 1 in a while - didnt expect to see you online though
@From <A**Y> D*****a: I collect items here in PoE 1
@From <A**Y> D*****a: Do you happen to know if you have any of your race rewards left in HC / SC std?
@To D*****a: I don't think so, that was a long time ago - are they valuable now?
@From <A**Y> D*****a: would you be willing to check? and yeah - they are collectable
@From <A**Y> D*****a: i can walk you thru how to find them, only takes a few minutes

From talking to my guildies, I'm guessing it's an RMT thing. They could be scripting it:

- search the trade site for anything (all I had listed in standard was some old flasks with a mod that's been discontinued)
- order by listed longest ago first
- scrape each account's public page for season race achievements
- have the script send whispers
- only "pick up the phone" when someone answers

I think a way GGG could counteract this would be to unlist any trade tabs that haven't been looked at in-game in a year (or some period). It would also declutter the trade site/API a bit.

(Scarletsword pointed out that all they need to do is scrape the race ladders then spam people - I was overthinking things.)

Yes, I've had this happen twice so far and I'm fairly certain they are RMTers.

They likely scrape old race ladders for them as these ladders are always public even if the account is private and they just spam the list up and down.

Simply report, block and move on preferably without giving away any information or just tell them you converted everything to MTX.

Okay - thanks for the confirmation! Will remember to report if it happens again.

I just went through the logs to find my interaction with one of them:

"
2025/07/12 @From D***a: yo
2025/07/12 @To D***a: yes?
2025/07/12 @From D***a: hey, sorry -- do you still ahve ur race rewards in std still?
2025/07/12 @From D***a: im trying to collect them
2025/07/12 @From D***a: if u care for std currency and want to sell them?
2025/07/12 @To D***a: no, I either used them or gave them to friends
2025/07/12 @From D***a: ahhh ok
2025/07/12 @From D***a: tyvm bro i apprecite it

I'm guessing we got whispered by the same character even.
Smart move by the resellers. Once asynchronous trading hits PoE 1 standard the prices on race items will 10-100x and the prices of all other legacy items will drop to 0 since the supply will hit infinity.

GGG shouldn't have allowed those skins to transfer to PoE 2 as it 100% guarantees RMT but they did anyways.
You mean like reparations?
This has been going on for quite some time now. Most of the standard listings is from people who buy them for real money through (discord, maybe there is a facebook group?) and try to gain money from it by selling them ingame for mirrors who then got rmted for real cash profit.

A month ago Acapella (Tonique) got perm-banned because he was exactly doing that. This completely affected the standard economy since he was literally setting prices on items that he did not deserve to have. Banning him, did not entirely help since he is already on another bought account, doing exactly the same thing.

It was actually even worse in Acapella's case because he had contacts with hackers who deliberately targeted accounts with lots of race rewards who then sold them to Acapella for very 'cheap' price.

To have better safety, make sure your poe account is tied to an email-address that is not tied to anything else. Also make long unique passwords for that email-address and your poe account for maximum safety.

What is this GGG?
Orrrr they could do the right thing and totally 1000% remove player to player trade. There no longer exists any legitimate reason for it to remain in either p1 or p2, and lots of examples like this why it should be removed.
