Why I think the rare icons change doesnt work in POE 2

We now essentially have the same system as POE 1. No icons, and have to kill boss. This works in POE 1 because the maps are almost all linear, speed is high and above all _loot drops from monsters that arent rare_.

If the only way to get _anything_ to drop is to kill a rare, it's natural you want to find them all. Yes sure, there's more loot from rares in POE 1 as well, but it's actually feasible to drop say a chaos orb from a normal mob if you kill enough of them.

The ratio is way different in POE 2. So not knowing if you killed all the rares feels bad. Backtracking to find the last rare feels bad. Backtracking to check that last corner feels bad.

I think this could work if you distributed some loot to white and blue mobs. But then we're FULL POE 1.

Don't know if I think that is the way. I kind of started to enjoy chasing the rares. It made me look LESS on the minimap. I glanced top right every now and then to check if I'm on the right track, and then engage in the combat and navigate the environment to get there.

Now I will have the map overlayed on screen and only look at that to make sure I cleaned the whole map. Effectively the map is now the game world, the actual cool areas are gone.
