Wisp/Spirit behaviour is unbearable!
I died multiple times now waiting for these stupid wisps to finally merge with a rare.
First, it only moves when right on top which means you basically have to run right into the pack with the rare (and get bonked multiple times). Second, it takes way too long for them to merge. You always get surrounded by all the minions and take a shit ton of hits. If i used any skill the whole pack dies and i have to follow the wisp again. Third, i played with the wisp nodes on the tree for quite a while and i have yet to find anything worthwhile and i usually have 2 whisps on average per map. Killing like 100 monsters before the wisp merges yields at best 1 talisman and thats it. They dont drop any currency, they basically never drop tiered rares. I have about 80% rarity on my char. My suggestion: Increase the radius in which the wisp moves at full speed by 2x-3x. Increase the wisp merging radius by 2x. Increase the merging speed down to at most 1 second, but 0.5 would be much better. Increase the quantity of items dropped per spirit-infused monster slain. Increase the "Shining Trail" rarity modifier by 25%. I honestly can't believe that this mechanic hasn't been improved by this point in time. Hope some of this will be considered. I made a post regarding this as well. I personally think the best solution would be to make the Wisp follow you instead and after you killed a certain amount of monsters the Wisp itself turns into a Rare/Unique Mob.

And sometimes wisps doesn't even pick the nearest rare but you have to run half a map backwards or something else stupid.
Yes make wisps follow you and next rare you kill will respawn possessed with that type of wisp you had following you. More loot and no more accidental kills and waiting before wisp merges with rare. |

Should work more like... tormented spirits I feel like. Or be like something you pick up and it sticks onto you for a duration sort of thing

+1, the mechanic is terrible, I always accidentally kill the enemy before it can get possessed, or i have to stand around not attacking to avoid accidentally killing the target... so then i die because im not attacking any monsters...

Whisps should attach to the player and give them a buff that increases quantity and rarity for every slain enemy up to a point. And when you encounter a rare enemy the whisp should revive the slain rare monster with all the bonuses applied and the spirit's abilities.
