Trials of Chaos - Elevator goes to bugged terrain

After completing the first room of the Trials of Chaos, I ascended the elevator. the walkway went a short distance south east, then opened up a little left and to the right, and all the south wall was a wall of terrain. I think there should have been a bridge that went North, but it was on the ground, and the gap is impassable (gap extended all the way off screen)
