Caltrops not activating

I've been having issues with the caltrop skill not working correctly, even though I have all the prerequisites met and only the caltrop skill equipped. When I try to use it, I see a green flash indicating that the skill is activating, and my spirit decreases, but the skill still fails to work properly. It also deactivates other skills, like my companion, though it activates when I switch weapon sets. Additionally, my spirit gauge isn't displaying correctly, showing only numbers instead of the gauge. Even after removing all other skills and equipment to isolate caltrops it still giving me problems

no one else has gotten this problem does no one use caltrops ?

I don't know if this is directly related I'm using trail of caltrops. I have a wand and focus on weaponset I and a spear and shield on weaponset II. The skill dialog doesn't state any weapon requirements and is showing active on both weapon sets. However, the caltrops do not drop when switching to weaponset I with the wand. It also works when removing the wand.

yeah the skill or the pet skill is also bugged because i cant have the pet and caltrop on set 1 together but set 2 i can have them both ..in set one i can have pet but not caltrop together its really weird
