TERRAFORMING MAP with TOWERS

Now as announced, Towers do not take in tablets anymore and you can use precursors now to juice maps directly. This is great.

But what about towers? I think they could have a different kind of function. The idea: Terraforming

All of us love certain maps and we dislike others. If you played PoE1, you probably did the same maps over and over again because you liked them for several reasons. Some builds work better in wide and open maps, others work better in tight linear maps with walls. Right now, the atlas map kinda forces us to play the maps that are offered to us, without any way to choose what maps we want to play. Ofc we can try to ignore locations with maps we dislike, but at some point we have to play them.

Terraforming could solve this. If you reach a tower, you can place a terraforming tablet in it. This will change all (or almost all, except some special/unique maps) maps into maps of your choosing within the range of the tower. It will not influence rarity or quantity or whatever. It's just there to change the available maps. If towers are overlapping, the last tower activated will overwrite places from the other towers. And if you dont care about the maps at all, you can just ignore the tower and not use a terraforming tablet on it.

Oooh, or even as a neat little compromise to this idea,

Not particularly changing every single map to be the same one, but changing the biome of the whole area, that way we don't have terraform item bloat and it would be probably easier and more visually appealing to program and animate.

That way we could feel like we're using the Local Knowledge atlas notable to full effect

Yeah, something like that would also be good. I think getting rid of towers completely is kinda sad, because the idea of having more influence on your map is a good thing. Problem was, that towers were absolutely needed in order to get the good content.

With my (or your) suggestion, you get the good content without towers, but towers would help you to play the maps you really want. :)
wonder if that is going to hurt the few that run Unidentified maps
i prefer them at this point better %quality%waystones

if i would have to id and stack 6 mod maps for extra bonus content
i probably still run unid and not many tablets
interesting idea

- Changes biome of the area around the tower
- This should also reset the progression of the area around, meaning you "fight" back out from the tower to reconnect it back to main (should you choose to); then you just run the maps you like within the biome itself
