Video driver timeout/crashing

I play on an older system, specs as follows.

windows 10 PRO 64 bit
X470 AORUS GAMING 7 mother board
AMD Ryzen 7 2700x cpu
16 gigs of G Skill ram
AMD Radeon VII Video card

I run the game with Vulkan because it runs much smoother than DX with my setup.

Before 0.3 I would have a driver timeout once in a blue moon, very rare.
After the patch I went through the campaign with very little issue but as I started mapping i would say 7 out of 10 times I run into the abyssal my screen will freeze, artifacts all over both monitors and I get a Windows Exception pop-up
that says "vk::Queue::submit:: ErrorDeviceLost" this happened to me 10 times in 3 hours the other night.

Now before anyone says anything about cooling or over heating, I have 2 dual 120mm radiators with a 20oz reservoir cooling both my CPU and the video card and my case has 10 fans. under full load my cpu temps hover around 43c and the card will stay around 62c

Video card driver is :: AMD Adrenalin Edition 25.8.1

any help would be greatly appreciated.
