Temporal Rift effect performance issue

There seems to be an issue with the temporal rift afterimage effect causing massive performance drops. It isn't as noticeable as one but with just a two party team of two chronomancers, you get drops of 40-60+ fps. Noticed first when playing with a friend. To test we both went to an empty area and just ran in circles with temporal rift on and the performance hit was massive, especially when the images were near each other. Both running 4080 supers and 7900x3ds. This issue, coupled with large mobs and other effects, can make the game near unplayable.

What's weird is it doesn't seem like my computer is reacting at all. Normally if things become more visually intensive, the CPU/GPU will work harder, but here it's like it isn't being registered as anything happening and the frames just drop. If a video is needed I will gladly supply one.

As someone with an older PC who constantly watches the FPS meter, I noticed that as soon as I took this node, I went from 100 FPS to 70 FPS. I can also supply a video if more evidence is required.
Each afterimage that spawns puts a hefty chunk of weight on the CPU. With all 8 afterimages you get 33% lower fps from CPU bottleneck. If you're not going to fix this maybe allow us to disable temporal rift so people without top of the line CPUs can still use time freeze?
