Chaotic Freeze Bugged

Chaotic freeze for whatever reason just is not procking at all. I mean nothing. I have tested it on contagion and using essence drain as the chaos projectile hit, I have tested it on essence drain(and contagion) and used the dark effigies as chaos hit damage. I have tested it on a curse linked with decay, and then I used dark effigy or essence drain to trigger chaos hits. This support gem does not work. I don't even know if it works on anything right now, or what it is suppose to work on. There is so little information on it online because of how niche it seems it is that I am at the point to where its either a bug or I am an idiot. And I wouldn't be surprised if its the ladder. GGG or anyone please help this type of stuff makes me wanna rip my hair out

(Edit: I re-read the gem, I think it is quite complex, and you seem to understand it and be using it correctly. I do not think it makes the chaos dot apply the freeze. It instead, makes the chaos dot, apply a debuff, that causes chaos hit damage, to be able to freeze. So in the case of contagion I think it would need a second chaos hit skill to be hitting to build up the freeze. ED should work, if it is compatible, since it has hit and dot.

With the way freeze build up works in POE2, it might be possible that you are killing them before they are freezing, or not doing enough hit damage to build up freeze before the DOT or other damage sources kill the mob. Also possible as you say that there might be a bug or some other mechanics involved. I would think that you should of seen some freezing if used with ED, unless maybe you have something else on your build that prevents it.

Sounds like it needs to be very specific. Non-ailment, Chaos damage, DOT, Non-minion, Spell. And then also I'm not familiar with how freeze works in POE2, but their may be further conditions for the freezing to happen.

There are not that may skill gems in the game that I have seen, so may be there are very few skills it will work with currently.
