New trade system Easy Scam
Hey guys,
Your new trade system can be used to scam people very easily. A seller can change the price when he sees someone coming into his hideout, and nothing will tell the buyer. Just saw a random T15 listed as 1ex, went to the hideout, the T15 was already put as 1div, and i bought it because i expected your feature to be safe. Turns out normal trading is still way safer. " There is always a trade-off when implementing a new system. Furthermore GGG said, they can only really test it in a real environment. That's what they are doing right now. And I guess trade will see lots of QoL and security improvements. Like locking prices when someone is browsing your market. |

" That works if seller has like 50 tabs full of items and sitting in Hideout 24/7 which is i strongly doubt people are doing. It takes 3 seconds to teleport to someone's Hideout to buy an item. Unless there's script to change item price instantly someone clicks ''visit hideout'' i don't see this becoming a thing. You would need to camp hideout 24/7 constantly looking at your screen and paying attention. Just because you had bad experience with 1 trade, doesn't make it trash, scam, cheat, pos or whatever. (not related to your case) I've noticed PoE players love using word scam , even if there's no scam involved. Last edited by Werdx_1#3669 on Sep 13, 2025, 5:22:02 AM

" are you seriously blaming the player? the price should be locked as soon as you click to purchase..that is on the devs it should not be hard for them to do. the only issue is that the "lock" would have a time limit or something Last edited by tarloch#1873 on Sep 13, 2025, 5:28:55 AM

I mean if someone pays the incorrect price for an item it's their own fault and not the sellers. Pay attention as it shows the price you are paying. No reason to blame anyone other than yourself for getting "scammed"

didnt the OP say there was noway to see it was changed?
i'm playing devils advocate as i didnt "upgrade" my tabs so am only going by what he posted i do agree with you though, "Caveat emptor" exists for a reason |

" Him saying that doesn't matter, as it isn't true. If someone changes the price it shows. He just didn't see the changed priced. Is what it is |

Was the item still highlighted? I assume it will no longer be highlighted if the price changed as it's essentially a "new" item for sale.

Yes the item was still highlighted. That's why I didn't check the showed price, because i just trusted the feature.
So many people trying to ragebait in this topic. My fault or not doesn't matter, the previous trade system got patched several times to avoid getting scammed, this one can also take advantage of an update. The more we will push this, the more the devs are likely to add an update to avoid other people getting scammed. |

" Always so odd to me why people blame the victims of this or that scam, and I'm not just talking about POE2 or games for that matter. Clearly there should be better systems in place to protect people against all the scammers running riot in this game. It's just sad to see, once again, that many people are such assholes. It makes for a really lousy community. You end up always trying to be on guard, just in case somebody tries to scam you. Obviously it's the scammers (and RMTers) that should be blamed and banned. When done systematically enough, the game will be much healthier for it. If they want to branch out to more than just the same old pros and elites (who are largely at fault for this issue to begin with), GGG need to take this issue seriously. |
