First Time Playing Minion Build in PoE2. Why are They So Passive?
I consider myself a semi-casual on this game, have only played in two leagues and only in two leagues in PoE1 in the past but much prefer the feel of PoE2.
This league was the first time I tried to play a minion based build and my biggest point of feedback is simply why are they so passive? I've played a minion build in PoE1 and as soon as an enemy is on screen they will sprint past me up to engage it, it was a very fun playstyle as I felt like a Necromancer commanding my minion hordes from the back line and supporting with spells, only being vulnerable if I was surrounded or overextended so my minions could not protect me, or if an enemy jumped over my front line. However in PoE2 it seems like my minions (even the ones the game considers tanks or "aggresive") are always slowly trailing behind me, following me until I'm face first on top of enemies, taking hits. It feels like I'm constantly leading a bunch of toddlers around and begging them to attack the targets I'm engaging. Every encounter became me running into melee coaxing my minions to actually start aggressing to the enemies, then dodge rolling backwards so I could actually cast from the back line like I wanted to. Even though I really enjoyed the league mechanics and new story act added to the game, the gameplay of constantly feeling like my minions are having trouble keeping up with me (rather than protecting me) was giving me a constant mild frustration so I'm putting the game down for a bit.
