The Realmgate should use splinters from your stash.

If you have enough splinters to run the content there should be an option in realmgate menu to pick it. And then the difficulty tier (if you have enough spliters for that).

Don't make us micromanage every little thing in the game. It's already too much with tablets and waystones.
