Wildfire (Ignites spread) is Either Bugged or Ignites Are Too Weak

There are no good options for reliably clearing a pack of enemies using fire skills. In PoE 1, ignite itself was the "clear skill" for the fire archetype. However, in PoE 2, both ignite investment and Wildfire (ignite proliferation) is seemingly very limited. There's 50% increased ignite magnitude on the tree, compared to the ~135% increased poison magnitude on the bottom right side of the tree. Not to mention that poison also gets additional maximum stacks AND most poison skills are guaranteed to poison. Now I love poison, but why is ignite so deep in the dumpster? Most fire skills don't even have ignite scaling!

In PoE 1, ignites could proliferate from the corpses of enemies however this cannot occur in PoE 2. If you deal enough damage to ignite an enemy and you have enough ignite magnitude to deal any amount of damage, the ignited enemy dies before it's able to spread. This is completely counter-intuitive, more damage should not make clear speed worse.

I say Wildfire could be bugged, because ignites created by fireball seemingly refuse to proliferate sometimes. I don't know if it's an issue of 1.5 m being smaller than I realise, or maybe I just don't realise the ignite I'm watching has already proliferated (fairly sure they can only spread once, as the second ignite is not created by the skill being supported, it's created by Wildfire). Or maybe I just can't tell the difference between the flammability effect and the ignite effect. Regardless, the support feels frustratingly inconsistent.

I don't know if ignite has just been put on the back burner (heh) until the ignite sorcerer ascendancy is created (neither stormweaver or chronomancer has fire scaling, despite sorcerer being the "all elements" class). Even infernalist is more "minion ignite" than it is player ignite. It currently feels like ignite really only exists to facilitate snap, which just doesn't feel very good. Ignites from spells should be buffed from their current baseline until the top of the tree gets either an ignite ascendancy or the ignite damage clusters are improved.

I don't know if it's good, but I've used fireball to trigger living bomb. That seems to clear packs. I don't know how well it scales on maps (I'm only on T1 with my Infernalist).

I played around with a lot of different gems and passives and this is the best I've been able to do. I basically try to make Fireball deal as much damage as possible so it triggers living bomb in as few hits as possible.

I found that the support gems that increase the number of projectile just didn't work very well. They nerfed the damage too much. I think I use Unleash, The gem that ignore fire resistance, and two other straight damage increase gems.

I'm pretty sure fireball doesn't shotgun. So mobs can't be hit by more than one of the projectiles.

Have you tried that?

Yeah I'm just going to give up on the idea of Wildfire for now and go back to trying to maximise hit damage. Was just ignoring ele pen, as it has no effect on ignite magnitude (says so in the hover for ignite) but at this point, ignite's not doing anything anyway.

I've discovered that Wildfire is just not spreading to enemies. Seems like it respects flammability magnitude, so there's only a chance for ignites to spread every second.
