New Idea: Add incentive to reach lvl100 by creating skill gems that carries over into future leagues

Reaching 100 gives me nothing right now, I have no extrinsic incentive to reach that level. In early final fantasy games, you had to level a class to be able to carry over skills from that class to your new class.

Utilize that philosophy for path of exile so that I can be incentived to reach 100. Here's an example execution of this idea.

Let's use passive skills in this example, and lets call them "transcendent passives" because they transcend leagues.

1. Have 3 transcendent passive slots per account, so you can't just stack an unlimited amount.
2. Each ascendancy has a unique transcendant passive.
3. When you reach 100 with that ascendancy, you gain a transcendant passive for your whole account.
4. Now, you create a new character, and you can slot the gained transcendant passive to this character and every character in the future, even in future leagues.

This not only gives an incentive to grind to 100. It also gives me incentive to play ascendancies I've never played before.

Note that this doesn't have to be a passive either. I can imagine a feature where a player goes to an altar that allows you to "transcend" an item upon reaching level 100 - which would allow you to carry over that item to the next league (you wouldn't be able to trade this item).

Whatever the execution. The core idea is to have a feature that gives you a reward for reaching level 100 that you can utilize for future characters and future leagues.

Absolutely not in any universe ever. The entire point of a league is that no one has any in game advantage over anyone else at the beginning of a league.

Something for future characters in the same league maybe, but meh. We already have leveling Uniques to fill that role.

Who cares if there's not an incentive to reach 100? If you do care, that means you already have a personal incentive so you don't need the game to give you more right? Plus the incentive for reaching level 100 is the same as every other level, more base stats and a passive point. I also imagine once they start doing challenges it will be a challenge each league just like PoE1 and be something you do to earn permanent MTX.

Mostly because cheat/rmt will always exist so people cheating will get it while honest players won't.
Congratulations, you've learned what most of the long term players keep trying to tell everyone that whines about XP loss on death. Level 100 is meaningless, you gain nothing special for getting it. You don't need it, it's only there as an optional chase for players that like to grind to get the biggest number.
part of the appeal of the new league is a fresh start for everybody.

and adding that, people are going to feel like they have to grind in order to be on the same level next league and its going to make people resent the game, complain about xp loss more, and play less.

new leagues should be fresh as theyve always been.

if you want a lvl 100 reward, it should just be cosmetic in totality. armours, maybe a special color for your name in global chat, etc.
