How can I not sprint when I don't want to?

I am playing a blood mage now. As I need to constantly spam my skills, I took blink for running fast. However, it will make me go into a sprint, then there will be an awkward stumbling motion. Sometimes the monsters catch the timing, they slam me down.
If there any settings could cancel sprint? or at least i can split the key binding? Maybe players should have the choice.

Best to ask in early access feedback section, but I believe there was a patch adjustment in the last 24 hours that helps with not getting knocked over immediately after starting to sprint, so that may help.

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3851277

'There is now a short grace period at the start of a sprint where being hit will not heavy stun you. This is equal to the minimum sprint duration, so you can now never be stunned out of an accidental sprint. The minimum sprint duration has been increased slightly to support this change.'

Unsure if it helps with your specific case, but if it is still happening for you after this update and needs to be widened to other interactions, might be worth mentioning in early access feedback. Seem like they understand it is annoying by making this adjustment, and are intending for it to be only for being stunned when intentionally trying to run past everything.
The patch should help. Not only with the grace period but also with adding the ability to Dodge out of a sprint with the "Keep Sprinting While Moving" option.

If people were using that option, they could've gotten stuck in a sprint from holding Dodge too long, and been locked out of a second Dodge--making getting Heavy Stunned more likely.
