Rhoa Mount thrown spear targeting issue on controller

I got my Amazon build to have enough Spirit to run a Rhoa Mount, and it seems to have a targeting issue with some thrown spear skills (Lightning Spear, default Spear Throw, and Glacial Lance)when using a controller. This is on Xbox Series X.
On foot, your thrown spear skills typically go straight forward if you're not locked onto a target.
On a Rhoa Mount without a target, your skills can go right down into the ground in front of you (which seemingly is exactly how Storm Lance, Explosive Spear, and Whirlwind Lance function on foot as they too just go right in front of you without a target).
