Trials are the worst gameplay experience PoE2 has to offer!

Trials aren't fun or challenging - they are simply frustrating! Losing every progress in the 3rd floor one room before the last boss made me insta quit the game.

A game like PoE2 should respect the players time and be rewarding and not frustrating.

Why don't you give us different options to get ascendancy points?

It sure seemed to respect my time when I spent it finding Relics to cap my Honour Resistance, boost my maximum Honour, and look ahead a bunch of rooms so I could avoid bad debuffs and stack a ton of Sacred Water on the way to one-shooting my 4th Ascendancy for the third league in a row like I genuinely don't understand what people find challenging about this content. It might not be the most exciting thing but if you're really struggling this much then I feel like the person not respecting your time is you.
Seems fine to me.

I learned the mechanics.
I capped my Honor resist.
I picked the right afflictions.

Respects my time just fine because I'm able to do it perfectly on every char I've made including melee.

if they werent challenging you wouldnt have lost.

what is with this "im actually good at the game" when you clearly arent.

people who are actually good at the game arent losing trials. they are a challenge and if you learn how to play better, you can overcome it.

like what went wrong?

you got hit by an enemy?

you got hit by a trap?

why did that happen? would a better build have helped? would better relics have helped? do you even bother figuring any of this out or is your only response complaining about losing?

I just lost 1.5h of my time because I rolled random "cannot restore Honour" "minor" affliction on the last floor and because of that I ended in a final fight where I had like 1/3 honour to start with. And I would still win if I wasn't melee that had to sometimes take a bit of damage to deal damage, as that's part of being melee. This last boss was not too hard, but extremely tanky and I got screwed by sheer RNG and being melee.

I just lost 1.5 hour of my lifetime due to pure trial RNG. These trials are trash in their current form, even if Sekhama is billions of times better than Trial of Chaos that is my worst gaming experience of entire life, and I play games daily for like 20 years now. Nothing worse than Trial of Chaos ever happened to me in world of video games and I'm telling it with full conviction.

I think the trials are very luck dependent. I was able to clear trial of Schemas with the worst modifiers (enemies are faster, i do less damage, boss is faster) on a homebrew build with my chaos mage in one attempt. Skill is very important, but we can not say that there are no problems.

You should - only take honor damage- if your loose life. Allowing people to tank hits with Energy shield SHOULD NOT COUNT AS HITS

Another solution for the first trial is to give the player partial rewards similar to how Trial #2 lets you. If you see you got bad modifiers, just take the loot and bail. Maybe add a bunch of rewards for each section, adding up to a solid item at tier right before the boss room.

Without Cruel, its far less of a problem, since Cruel just made you re-run schemas which is the worst trial in the game in my opinion.
I think people who defend this stupid mechanic forgot what kind of game we playing. Just a reminder - it is ACTION RPG. The type of game where gameplay is stand around character characteristics - offensive and defensive and core gameplay is about dealing damage trying to survive under CONSTANT INCOMING DAMAGE. This is the game we playing. And adding mechanic which absolutely restricts you to receive any kind of damage is a shame of gamedesign. Especially since those trials are standing in a way of progression.

Absolutely nobody would argue against trials if they will be as just alternative loot farming dungeons instead of mandatory thing locking behind ascendancies.

If you could think a bit, you can even find out that it's simply even sounds dumb that hero who gather a lot of defense and can withstand dozens of monsters before dying now need to spend hour+ crouching in splinter cell style to be able to fight default way after, just better with new ascendancy points.

It's just like to become a tractor driver you need to defend a dissertation on quantum physics.

You are completely right, but from the perspective of a player who understands the game's mechanics and their own progression scheme very well.
I don't find it surprising that people could find locking a major power boost behind a roguelite mechanic quite frustrating

its been my experience that I can usually avoid rolling a random affliction that screws me over because I avoid things like "you can see fewer rooms ahead" and "room afflictions are unknown" specifically for this reason.

In my case (Titan) it's really MAJOR powerboost because of Hulking Form. If I reach that node all my stats are gonna go bonkers to the orbit, I will be like 20-25% stronger only because of that single node.

And also Warrior is the worst class for these trials. I almost did it anyway, but still I failed only because of shitty RNG that I could not avoid.
