[v0.3 Build of the Week Submission] Marohi Erqi Poison Gemling Legionnaire - v0.3 Abyss
What is this build?
In its simplest form, this is a Two Handed Mace Poison build. Let's start with that. ![]() Marohi Erqi is my favourite weapon from PoE1 (thank me if you have a Cobalt foil one from a reliquary key!) and I'm glad its back in PoE2 now. Obviously we have to build around it! Just like in PoE1, Marohi is very hard hitting, but very slow. Enter wind dancer poison. By using reflect mechanics and other skills that are not attack speed dependent, we can capitalize on Marohi's huge base damage without suffering from the abyssmal attack speed penalty. Don't care, give PoB PoE.Ninja Link -- Sept09/2025, lvl97 Gemling -- about 100 Div investment. See Gearing section below for some proper lower investment options. PoB2 Code ::

Videos T15 Map Showcase T15 10x Breaches Who is this build for? Do you like clearing screens while not pressing too many buttons? A laid back playstyle? This build clears well, is very tanky, bosses well and is quite fun overall. If you've tried the 2H mace playstyle or the poison playstyle in a more classic form (vanilla warrior or pathfinder?) and enjoyed them respectively, then perhaps its time to combine the two! Who is this build NOT for? If you are hooked on tailwind zoom zoom from range you may struggle (crash out, as the kids say) with this build as it can have some jank moments, particularly if plague bringer is down and forced to melee single mobs hiding behind a rock in a ritual. Pros and Cons + Very strong build that scales extremely well with levels and investment + No real need for mana management + Highly well rounded, no obvious gaps + Comfy gameplay with light ability to AFK - Marohi Erqi has 0.8 attack speed Mandatory Gear Plaguefinger -- Allows any damage type to contribute to poison, not just physical and chaos. Also gets our chance to poison close to 100% when using the Poison support gem. That's it! From there, we can build how we want. More in the Gearing selection below. Skills & Supports Full skill list below! The Poison support, Wind Dancer + Plague Bearer + Herald of Plague poison package is the core of the build. Mace Strike is the bread and butter attack to easy burn down anything that doesn't die to Wind Dancer reflect poison. It is supported with utility like rage generation, stun and bleed (to buff Poison III) and attack speed. After this, Infernal Cry + Rolling Slam + Hammer of the Gods are there to take on bosses. Rolling Slam is very negotiable and your mileage may vary with any high damage slam skill like Sunder, Earthquake, Perfect Strike, Supercharged Slam... whatever feels good to you. I like Rolling Slam for the Hit & Run support and high stun prowess. Alternatively, you could abandon the slot altogether and use something else. Such is the Gemling lifestyle, you can drop in a lvl20 Int skill if you want... You'll need additional spirit on gear to run Scavenged Plating and Withering Presence. Other spirit skills are definitely viable like Banners, Berserk. Experiment and see what you like! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What's unique about this take on the build? With the v0.3 Abyss League, there are so many changes to the game that really every build is new. This build uses a fairly unique ascendancy choice & gearing setup to achieve strong damage and defenses. In v0.3 we now have: -Access to Marohi Erqi - Constricting Command helmet (but not Deepest Tower!) - Improved support gems - Abyss mods (like less attack speed more damage on weapon for poor man's Marohi) Ascendancy Choice Gemling Legionnaire! Only this bad boy has the right stuff to hold the mighty Marohi Erqi in just one hand. And he can do it while still leaving straightforward access to high level dex and int skills and number of supports. Adaptive Capability provides a lot of, well, adaptive capability. Beyond this, the other three choices are fairly passive fluff, but they should not be underestimated. I go for Crit Immune on Gem Studded which is an underrated defensive layer, and lets you run this map mod 'for free', along with raw power from Integrated Efficiency and the max res from Thaumaturgical Infusion is extra strong in v0.3 now that max res is harder to come by and layers very well with the new armour applies to ele damage stat. I also like the Merc starting area for this build! I'm sure the build is possibility on other Ascendancies like Titan, Warbringer, Pathfinder, etc, if you want to get creative, but I think Gemling provides the most for a strength based poison character! Further, with the increased accessibility of jeweller orbs, the gemling bonuses that previously were exorbitantly expensive (ie. 10x 6 socket skills) are now realistic. Defenses - 12-15k Armour against Phys, 12-15k Armour against Ele. 17-20k with Scavenged Plating up. - Capped Chaos Res - 78-79% overcapped all res - Crit Immune - 45-52% block - 3k life, huge stun/ailment threshold Can it be a League Starter? Absolutely it can! Drop your crossbow on the floor after your first couple level of levels and start bopping with a mace and poison support. From there you can definitively have success playing as a warrior in mercs clothing until things start to gel. Would recommend the mace side of the tree while levelling and avoid the surround nodes until you have the Constricting Command helm! Do I have to use Marohi Erqi? No, definitely not. But you should if you want to be cool. Any ole big bonk stick will work well, particularly one with high base damage and melee skills. Marohi's claim to fame is the instant heavy stun, which not only is a fantastic offensive opener, but also provides defenses. Stunned bosses, soon to be dead bosses, don't fight back. Squeezing out an additional 20% damage on a GG Rare weapon has its merits, but some bosses have extremely high stun thresholds or can get the map modifier, so Marohi's autostun is extremely nice here and one of the core pillars of this flavour of the build. Gearing Low Budget (League Start): See mandatory uniques section above. Plaguefinger and go! You can get by with any old rares from there, but do try to cap, res, get some life, have a big bonk stick. Medium Budget (5div+): Improve 2H mace, incorporate more life 6L your main skill(s) Get Chernobog's Add amulet anoint High Budget (30div+): Improve 2H mace again Get Chaos Res Add Constricting Command + 'Surround' tech on passive tree. Add spirit on chest+neck to get extra spirit skills Add more MS$ on boots Add weapon swap tech Upgrade rare jewels and start shopping unique jewels Corruptions on Gear Use catalysts Fill out additional 6Ls for Gemling bonuses Gucci Budget (100div+): Improve 2H mace again Exceptional+Corruptions on Gear Rite of Passage Gold Charm Anoints I like Leeching Toxins to add damage and get % life on kill which is amazing for mapping sustain. If you have other sources of life % on kill (probably jewels, don't recommend wasting spirit on it) then other poison anoints from the Ranger part of the tree can be good. If you are using a Megalomaniac jewel, you can juggle the anoints around as needed. I like Low Tolerance as a secondary anoint as this build, unlike Pathfinder poisons for example, will typically only use one BIG poison at a time. Flasks & Charms Don't neglect these! These are woefully underrated by the community but serve a very important function. Ensuring you have a dutiful health and mana flask is important. Double true for charms, which can shore up any holes in your gear, and eventually provide huge power. With the quest in Act2 now adding a charm slot in v0.3, you only need a 2 charm implicit belt to achieve the current max of 3 charm slots. Early on, an Amethyst charm and a Thawing charm are great for preventing early mapping deaths. Once your chaos res and other defenses are sorted, Slow immunity is very helpful for QoL. A Grounding Charm is a nice defensive option for clearing shocks -- the Black Cat unique in particular is a good one. If you happen to find your pockets full of cash, the Rite of Passage unique gold charm is a chase unique charm with pure power and fun. I am using the Wolf version. It's certainly price prohibitive, but its nice to shoot for some chase unique long term goals. Here is a helpful infographic on the charm animal spirit effects. Quest Choices Hard to go wrong, as we can use any and all stats in varying forms. I like stun threshold from the poison potion (Act3), the stats rather than the resists (Act4), stats from the Qimah towers (Interlude Act2). Stats are hard to come by. Marohi is HEAVY. Weapon Swap Once you get into higher tier maps, especially once you start juicing bosses with the boss atlas passive tree, you really want to consider adding a weapon swap set of weapons & passive tree. This is raw power that you're leaving on the table if you don't! At low levels, I very simply used a cheap chaos skills wand to buff up my Despair cast, but eventually switched over to a gigantic dual 2H mace setup to dropping a juiced Hammer of the Gods which is enabled automatically by Marohi's insant heavy stun. FAQ Q: Can this build clear all content? A: Sure can! Skill helps, but with enough budget you may not even need that! Q: How can I get enough Strength to hold Marohi? A: Gemling has 12% reduced attribute requirements across 3 of the Ascendancy small nodes as well as 3% increased attributes in the other. This can be coupled with more attribute bonuses in the star cluster with Polymathy in the due south of the tree. Then, you'll generally want as much strength as you can find on your gear. Marohi can also be corrupted if lucky to lower the +str requirement mod to be less than the flat +150. Q: My Marohi isn't insta stunning bosses! What gives? A: It heavy stuns enemies that are on full life! Don't be tempted to cast Plague Bearer first, and do be cautious about damage from shrine effects or other sources. Get in there and slap the boss right in the teeth to open the fight with an immediate heavy stun. Q: Should I fill my skills with random gems? A: For some of them, yeah pretty much. We are a gemling, this boy loves gems! Do try to consider the bonuses that come from adding gems. Even though a 6 socket warcry doesn't benefit much over a 4 socket warcry, we do want these gem bonuses. Q: Thoughts on the Armour Applies to Elemental Damage stat? A: Absolutely fantastic. Get it where you can! I have 40% on boots and at high level was able to achieve 60% on the tree, with a wee bit extra for an elemental of your choice adjacent the Prism Guard notable. Q: Thoughts on Blood of the Warrior? A: I think this could be a great option for the build (especially if slotting in Berserk), but I'm hoping to level to 100 and I think it's just too risky to not have an on-demand life potion. Abyss ground effects are still freaky! Others Considerations I iterated towards this build over time. I think PoE2 does a great job with build viability, respecs and the need to not sit in PoB rather than actually playing the game. Do what feels right for you! Don't just copy guides blindly. Play and learn and have fun! :) Acknowledgements Thanks to Kaltork & CCS for their inspiration and ideas around these concepts in prior leagues. Very cool build. Have you thought about taking RT and the accuracy nodes and allocating falcon dive for +1% ias per 250 accuracy?
Or maybe taking leap slam or stampede for clear? Maybe you'd need an unset ring for that. Last edited by FPSPV#4195 on Sep 12, 2025, 8:17:13 PM

Great questions!
With accuracy being more or less a freebie in v0.3 for close range melee, I don't think there's enough value here for investment. On a ranged Amazon where you need accuracy to hit, to buff the Asc node, and get great benefits from atk speed, I think Falcon Dive is a great node. Here, we get very little from it. I think the trick with something like Marohi is to lean into the design and work around it, not try to fix the problem. It's just too much investment to make it attack quickly. That said; wind dancer, plaguebearer, Herald of plague do get the job done without needing attack speed. And mace strike with attack speed supports does actually feel ok. Check the videos out! :) For Leap Slam, I have played around with it a bit. The rolling slam slot is honestly interchangeable for whatever feels good for occasional use. I probably just use it maybe once or twice a map if the boss doesn't die in a single hammer. Leap slam as a mobility mechanic is good, but I've gotten very comfortable with maximizing sprint. :D Last edited by Gescom#1904 on Sep 12, 2025, 1:55:04 PM

I think you've purchased every supporter pack they've sold! I'm surprised how smooth the clear is on this thing. Obviously, ST is going to be great.
