Map wipe on first death to boss is just bad game design
I'm not even going to complain about how much of my time this BS wastes.
That's small potatoes. Having to avoid map bosses like a plague until you've clean swept the entire map feel like shit. There's no advantage to the game or to the players from forcing people to do this. Worse yet, running into a boss while rushing through a Delirium encounter and losing everything in a juiced map as a result doesn't just feel like shit, it downright ruins your entire evening. I just lost tons of drops, an Abyssal depths, an Expedition, Ritual altars, a Breach and all my Delirium rewards because I ran into a map boss mid Delirium rush. This felt so terrible that, in the middle of the night after a full work day, I felt compelled to waste a good chunk of what free time I have to look up other people complaining about this issue online and then write this wall of text complaint to voice my displeasure. I'm not sure what grave issue compelled you to design such a terrible mechanic, but it desperately needs to change. Last bumped on Sep 12, 2025, 8:32:23 PM

It is for avoid people thinking that is safer to do the boss first to complete the map then do the extra content.
So don't rush the boss and clear the content first. And btw delirium enhance monsters & boss resistance & damage, so even safer is to click on the arrow on the bottom right to end the delirium before doing the boss, specially if you have points in atlas boss. (or don't if you want to fight big boss for big reward) |

OP, you could move more slowly, and put fewer mods on your maps.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

The map wasn't hard, I was blasting through everything just fine trying to get as much out of the Delirium encounter as possible.
Only problem was that accidentally running into the boss in the middle of the Delirium rush with all the clutter on the screen and skill effects everywhere simply deleted everything and instantly ruined the map. What's the point in having 3 more portals if there's nothing to gain from going back into the map? It's an extremely dumb game mechanic with absolutely no upsides for anyone nor any positive influence on the game or the player experience. |

You rolled the map, you pushed far into the delirium fog, and the boss is marked on the minimap. Do the content your build is ready for, at the pace you are ready for.

I am not complaining about the content being hard, it's not, nor am I complaining about the fact I died in that map, that's not an issue. What I'm complaining about is the nonsensical decision to make a death after reaching the boss delete all the loot and all the content on the map even if there are still portals into it remaining.
Defending unquestionably bad game design in the name of "git gud" elitism will only hurt the game. Just stop. |

" Did they state this somewhere? That seems like terrible design to me. JR really really wants to decide how we play the game it feels. |

" It's not a one death map. On any map, once the boss is triggered, deaths delete everything else on the map. It could be your first death on a 6 death map, doesn't matter. On a one death map, I would absolutely go to boss first, in effort to ensure map success. |
