A plea for better global chat moderation

As a gaming veteran I've had the chance to see many game communities grow and evolve. The early acess of Path of Exile 2 is an exciting time, and I believe it's a great opportunity to address a common issue that many games, including this one, face: the state of the global chat.

Right now, the global chat is often a very toxic and unusable space. Beside the English global I observerd the the German global, and I've noticed this behavior constantly. I'm not sure if chats in other languages than English are moderated, but the problem is persistent here. And frankly, the burden of fixing this shouldn't fall entirely on the players. Simply reporting every single Terms of Service violation would be a fulltime job in itself.

I believe the chat desperately needs stricter, more active moderation. This doesn't have to be heavy handed censorship, but a clear and actively enforced policy against harassment and general negativity. You might want to consider banning political discussions. A healthy community is a cornerstone of a game's longevity, and a toxic chat can actively drive players away.

I am passionate about Path of Exile 2 and its future. I hope that as GGG builds a great game, they also focus on cultivating a community space that is welcoming and constructive for everyone by adding strict moderation.

Thanks for reading.

The community as a whole is incredibly toxic, unfortunately.
Nope.
Now get yourself back to reddit please.
chat moderation in POE is basically the gold standard imo.
i wish it was the industry standard.

as a fellow gaming veteran who has also had the chance to see many gaming communities grow and evolve, the LAST thing i want global chat to be is sanitized HR drool.
It would kill the character of this long established community and absolutely disrespect the intelligence of its members.
see how easy it is to play the credentialism game?

if you are not emotionally equipped to handle 'public' spaces then turn chat off or just mute the specific people that bother you.

this is either rage bait or weapons grade ignorance.
go talk about politics in global, see how fast you get muted.
go harass someone, see how fast you get muted.

your thread is general negativity. shall we ban you?

the issue is not with strictness but with enforcement. which is terribly inconsistent because GGG relies mostly on self reports. so you can post some vile stuff but if no one reports it its OK, then someone sees that, thinks its ok to posts something similar and gets in trouble because someone reported him. terrible system, here and its even worse in-game. the devs just don't care
This is the worst forum I ever saw in my life.
- toxity from hardcore players which has nothing to do in life than playing PoE2
- overreacting forum moderation
- players who played only PoE1 and PoE2 pretending they know everything about ARPG
- players who even do not read with logic posted ignoring facts
- and many others

Simple by curiosity I read and post topics just to see where is the end of this social disaster
I just don't use the chat, it distract me while mapping.

And ye, if i go on french chat, i have all the racists and gooners, like any games.

What's next? Moderate any character name that might be considered slightly offensive by someone and they will crash out randomly infront of a screen?
Its an in-game chat. You can turn it off or you know.. IGNORE THE CONVERSATION. If you can't handle some harsh language/ topics on the internet then you clearly need to go outside more.
Why do people feel that when they personally can't handle something its the responsibility of the entire group to accommodate them?
I just turned it off recently but from what I've seen people will get banned for the most random stuff and spammers will keep spamming their RMT services all day with no consequence.
Just turn it off. I never have any public chat turned on...
