Atlas Feedback & Suggestions - More Events & Easier Pathing
Moving around in the atlas can sometimes be discouraging if you don't find what it is you find exciting. It somehow doesn't really make sense that we use a device to travel, but we always have to path in a line of connected dots. Moving from one area to another can be quite tedious, but it can be quite solvable.
Let's introduce some new type of nodes. Port - This port is overrun by monsters, deliberate it and help rebuild it to allow to set out on a voyage. Once completed you can select this node, then create a path on water to another node, the distance of the path traversed is incrementally increased with gold. There is also a Grand Port which would allow you to create 2 or 3 paths, and you may even be lucky to unlock a shipyard in a settlement. Settlement - A small new settlement of survivors, trying to get by in this new world overrun by monsters. Talk to the survivors and help them out with their problem. New map/area you can keep revisiting and do quests for. They might look for certain resources from different biomes. Help the settlement survive and grow. Quests would unlock different things in the settlement. City - Look for survivors in this ruined city. If you are lucky and find some, you may redirect them to an area you have already cleansed. If you gather enough survivors in a node it will turn into a settlement. Different cities result in different survivors (Ezomytes, Kalguurans, Karui, etc), which in turn will affect what kind of settlement gets created. You have one for each tribe, but can also get hybrid settlements. Depending on the combination of settlers different things will be available. The settled region will also play a part, basically biome. Settle near water and you might be lucky and eventually get a shipyard in your settlement, allowing you to create voyages for gold cost (see port) Survivors is also possible to come across in other maps, but they are much more common in cities. When you come across survivors outside of cities you can ask them about any rumours. Rumours clears fog in certain areas, allowing you to see further than the fog. A settlement can also be under siege in your atlas, making it unavailable until you liberate it again. Introducing siege nodes. Bandit Camp - Bandits have inhabited one of your already cleared area, and lay siege to a nearby settlement. Monster Nest - Seems like your clearing of an area has allowed a new type of monster to move in and become the apex predator of the area. Cultist Infestation - The twilight order has infested the nearby area. Failing to clear a siege will have negative consequences for the settlement. In general, I want the atlas to feel more alive. I want there to be more goals to work towards other than just clear a map. The incremental gold cost will stop people from exploring everything from one point. Settling in different areas should also come with different bonuses, just like a coast can develop a shipyard, other biomes should have their special buildings. Last bumped on Sep 9, 2025, 3:13:29 AM
