Restricting Trade to work before Act 4
I don't get the point of point of restricting access to needing to get to act 4 (in trade league) before you can use it. By joining the trade league I am basically telling you that I want to trade so why restrict it?
By setting this restriction, the game is basically forcing me to play solo self found for the first 3 acts. If I wanted to play SSF I would have chosen it at the beginning of the game. But I chose trade league... so why can't I trade? For this league (0.3), I crafted a spear and found a chest piece in act 2. Since then I have not found anything better. But now that I nearly at the end of act 3 I have hit a wall because I just don't do enough damage and/or don't have enough defence (in my case resist). I would love to be able to trade to get the gear that I need, but because it is locked to act 4 I am basically stuck, having to grind to make levels and hope for gear. At this point I am ready to just stop playing because I don't want to grind in the campaign and I don't really want to restart the game. I recommend that GGG just removes the requirement to get to act 4 and let you trade at any time. Last bumped on Sep 10, 2025, 6:20:52 PM

I don't know why it's restricted. Maybe to force you to play the game before getting fed from trading? No idea.
I also went with Spear with my Amazon. Not sure if it's luck or what, definitely not experience because I don't have enough experience in PoE 2, but pretty much campaign was smooth to me. Only boss where I had real trouble was that Torvian guy because his slow aura keeps stopping me from moving. Azmadi gave me also trouble but that's because I was running a lot. I realized it's better to YOLO him and just kill him first. But definitely if you can trade early, campaign will be really easy. |

I'm with the OP - we're in trade league, but almost all the posts from items require Ange to be unlocked. To add insult to injury, the few traders that allow person to person trading for their items are gouging the price of them due to the lack of supply in this game mode. This is not what I signed up for, as you've made a game with severe gear checks in mind (because you can't over-level your skill gems), and then make it so finding gear to overcome this challenge is near impossible to trade for.
Maybe unlock Ange towards the end of Act 2 instead. That way we still get to experience the difficulty without getting gated by gear checks with no way to overcome the end of act bosses/zones with a large difficulty spike. |

I think it's good - except on Hardcore.
I've had a L50 on his way to unlock the trade merchant, and a 38 on his way again and lost them both. I've died twice first time in Act 4 due top a dodge roll that accidentally went into a sprint during heated combat and the next time to monkey (if he opens a screen appearance with his AOE slam, it is uber huge and very hard to dodge until you can get tight close to him). I got my 3rd toon heading back now @ Level 10 to try to solve this problem. Anywho, I think they designed it this way to limit botting traders and make it more exclusive initially, also because there is a gold sink to use the trade system - they basically solved shit WoW has been trying to do forever. I don't think a single person on Softcore should cry about this because if you're build is decent you'll be there in about 8-10 hours of play and the very start of a new league is supposed to feel janky - not streamlined. Correct me if I am wrong but only merchant tabs are locked until act 4. Nothing is stopping you from posting items in a premium tab or buying from those who do the same

When gold sellers spam their RMT based on gear they've farmed and sold for currency using the merchant tabs, they get banned, so they roll new ones and are back in the game selling stuff the next day. By limiting this to higher levels they slow some of them down.
