The ARPG philosophy Jonathan talked about
Hello,
I think it was in the interview after the 0.3 announcement that Jonathan said in an ARPG you have to have the feeling of the chance that the next mob you could kill could drop something valuable. This I think is not the case in PoE 2. Usually what drops is some kind of currency and that doesn't really give me the feeling of getting something valuable. I also don't have the feeling that unique drops would benefit me a lot, if they drop. It's usually something that doesn't benefit me or that would benefit a new character. I have way too many uniques at the moment than I really want to use anyway. I am hoarding them at the moment, because there is nothing I can really do with most of them. The real "this is good" unique drop is very rare. And you're to be honest better off just trading for it anyway. It's easier, it's certain, why wouldn't you do it? Yes indeed, as long as there is the possibility for trading as it is, drops don't really matter that much. You have less incentive in killing all mobs in a situation than just getting to your objective as quickly as possible. I can basically get any good enough item for one exhalt via trading. So then I'm thinking, why am I killing these mobs? It's just better to skip them, sprint towards my next objective and progress to endgame where apparently, this is the only place, and only if you get to a certain point of progression, where you can actually get items that are better than the ones you currently have or that you can aquire with the currency you currently have via trading. I am not saying unique drops need to change or something. I think what really needs to change is trading. In kind regards Last bumped on Sep 8, 2025, 9:30:10 AM
