There are far too many rare monster modifiers that are simply unfun to play against.
I cannot count on my hand how many times, I encounter these incredibly frustrating mods and worse - combinations of mods, that offer really no meaningful challenge towards the player, but simply serves as an incredibly cheap frustration put in front of them.
Key examples: Proximity tangibility in itself is not necessarily broken - it is frustration for sure, but its the fact that it can be combined with SO many of the other problematic mods. For instance, Proximity tangibility + Mana Siphon creates an incredibly frustrating minion that many builds straight up will struggle to ever beat unless they severely outgear the rare. Shroud/Shade Walker in itself is an utterly broken and unfun mod to play against. I cannot express enough the amount of times where I am kiting a mob and it mid animation of an attack that I am avoiding suddenly is teleported on top of me and instantly gets to hit this attack that it was doing. This mod if you insist on it still existing in the game, should AT LEAST come with some cooldown or "reset" of the enemies behaviour. You should not have to ever face a mob instantly blink attacking you with your only counterplay being pre-rolling an attack that happens instantly. There are plenty of other problematic mods, but I just wanted to give some examples where I think that either these mods needs to be reworked or removed. I don't think that there is any value in your mobs being "Annoying" as their challenge. Last bumped on Sep 8, 2025, 8:36:27 AM

This is POE2 where every small bit of fun has to be countered by 100 unfun downsides.

Do you know that mana siphon ring is a ring? Which means it does not affect you when you stay next to the enemy?

" Yes and now you are inserting yourself into degens and melee range of kiting around a single rare mobs, while all the other mobs around you are also closing in. Even putting aside the mechanics of how this works - how can you argue with the fact that it is simply not an interesting, meaningful or fun way to design an enemy? Oh you HAVE to walk up close to an enemy that will then siphon the primary resource for fighting back for most builds and make many builds unable to fight back? The problem here is that Mods in many cases are supposed to be challenging and engage the player - but they are simply annoying instead and offer no meaningful challenge that the player can actually interact with. Most casters cannot engage with that example combo above, without constantly having their mana taken away and needing to sprint away and hope to recover enough mana to cast 1 more spell inbetween the next round of the mob sprinting at you. Its just uninteresting design. Last edited by Heelydon#1580 on Sep 8, 2025, 8:37:42 AM
